Jet-Clear and Vibro-Mist Mister Selection & Sizing |
VISUALIZE THE GREENHOUSE Evaluate the location of obstacles such as curtains or hanging baskets. Consider aisles and whether they can be wetted. Review cultural practices which might impact the height at which the misters should be placed. |
SELECT THE MISTER HEAD Choose the Jet-Clear or Vibro-Mist Mister for your application. All mister solutions are based on an average working pressure of 30 psi and spacing between the misters of three feet, unless otherwise indicated. Jet-Clear Misters are recommended for single benches; blue nozzle for benches up to 4' width and black nozzle for benches up to
5' width. Vibro-Mist Misters are recommended for misting larger areas.

SELECT THE MISTER HANGING ASSEMBLY
Choose the length of the Hanging Assembly - 12", 24", 30", 36", and 48" sizes are available. An extension tubing piece for creating longer lengths is optional. This is used to connect to the Polyethylene (PE) Tubing Supply Line and the Jet-Clear or Vibro-Mist Mister head.
A Dan Retrofit Adapter is used to connect Netafim Jet-Clear and Vibro-Mist Misters to Dan fittings.
Refer to Jet-Clear and Vibro-Mist Mister Components section for part numbers.

SIZE THE MISTER SUPPLY PIPE
Use the POLY PIPE SIZING chart to select the correct supply pipe size. Low density polyethylene is strongly recommended. Netafim's reflective UV White™ PE Tubing is UV resistant, withstands heat, direct sun, harsh chemicals and reduces the water temperature. Please refer to the Greenhouse and Nursery Price Catalog for part numbers. |
SIZE THE HEAD CONTROL COMPONENTS The components should be sized according to the flow range shown in the FILTER, VALVE AND PRESSURE REGULATOR SIZING chart below. The pipe connecting to the components can be a different size. Mixed sized pipes and components (e.g. 1" filter on 1 1/2" pipe) will have no negative effect on the operation of the system if properly sized by the flow range. |
STARTING UP A SYSTEM FOR THE FIRST TIME The most important point to remember when starting up a new system is to flush the mainlines. Debris from construction can otherwise be washed into the misters, causing a plug or improper operation. To properly flush a system, first connect all the pipes and hanging assemblies, except the Misters with the Check Valves. Next, open the ends of the distributor line and the mister supply pipes. Close them off, one by one, starting with the opening closest to the head control, and proceeding to the most distant opening. Only after complete flushing should the Misters with Check Valves be attached to the hanging assemblies. |
